Former K-1 Grand Prix champion Alistair Overeem will return for his third bout inside the Octagon when he takes on Jackson MMA heavyweight Travis Browne at UFC on FOX Sports 1 Saturday, August 17 at the TD Garden in Boston.

Currently ranked No. 5 among all UFC heavyweights, Overeem (14-1-1) made his UFC debut in October 2011 with a first round TKO win over Brock Lesnar. With the win Overeem earned himself a shot at the UFC heavyweight title versus Junior Dos Santos.

Prior to the fight with Dos Santos scheduled for May 2012, Overeem tested positive for elevated levels of testosterone, was suspended for nine months and lost his shot at the title. Overeem returned to action in February of this year against Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva at UFC 156.

Overeem appeared to underestimate Silva’s skills and ended up paying for it during the fight. Silva took everything Overeem had for two rounds and by round three Overeem was completely gassed. Silva capitalized with a knockout win 25-seconds into the third.

Incidentally Browne (14-1-1) suffered the first loss of his career against “Bigfoot” Silva last October when the two headlined  UFC on FX 5 in Minnesota. Silva scored a first round TKO win over Browne who tore his hamstring during the bout.

Browne finally got back in the Octagon in April, scoring a devastating knockout win via elbow strikes over longtime UFC vet Gabriel Gonzaga at the TUF 17 Finale. Browne is currently ranked No. 10 among UFC heavyweights and is 5-1-1 during his time with the promotion.

Aside from the Gonzaga fight, Browne’s biggest win to date is a first round knockout of Stefan Struve in May 2011 at UFC 130. He also fought to a draw with Cheick Kongo at UFC 120 in 2010.

Other bouts that have been announced for the FOX Sports 1 show include Matt Brown vs. Thiago Alves at welterweight and Joe Lauzon vs. Michael Johnson at lightweight. Stay close to ProMMAnow.com for more updates.

I’m not sure exactly why but this blog is loading extremely slow for
me. Is anyone else having this problem or is it a issue on my end?
I’ll check back later and see if the problem still exists.

When the candlestick is lit up (you may also make use of small battery operated candles)
the colorful marriage ceremony seashells give off an awesome, cozy shine.
Some seeds need to stay warm to germinate and others have to be put in a
refrigerator. The amazing luster and mirror-like finish of pearls have made them a symbol of
    wealth and sophistication throughout history.

, “Because, if he is with us, he will not be able to tell the rest of the world what to do anmcere.”Onyo, I had a group pick a black lady (retired), and when I asked why, they said, “Because we need someone to do all the work.”That, obviously, led into a lesson about racism.

Welling (Resident OAP)August 8, 2011 at 4:23 pmThe thing is GS, we shell out the highest prices to watch our beloved club, only to have to suffer watching, Djourou, Sqillachi, Flappy, et all, making cock ups week after week. All we want is some quality signings, both on and off the pitch – a new No 2 and a defensive coach??The money is there, so bloody well spend some of it. Or will be be having an open top bus parade for the best balance sheet in the league?

Kul!

deejayoh -If the dollar wasn’t dropping I would agree with you. However, they can seek much better returns than current US equities will provide when compared against dollar strength. There are plenty of places outside of the US to invest these days. Just wait for some of the SWF’s who bought into the big financials to get burned, that money will dry up very quickly when they realize Wall St. sees them as dumb money. – Rate this comment: 0  0
